Excellent location! only 2 blocks away from Union Square. The restaurant downstair is perfect with good food and service. The room decoration is a bit outdated but doesn't affect my overall appreciation to the hotel. However, there is a weird smell at the corridor and elevator which needs to be improved.

My husband and I celebrated our 17th anniversary in my favorite US city. The weather was fantastic for November and of course every meal was a special treat (best of show, El Sotano, a Mexican restaurant near Union Square, where our dinners plus margaritas cost 42!). We stayed at the elegant Prescott Hotel. Our room was teeny and one could hardly turn around in the bathroom, but the bed was very comfortable (love those down pillows) and I was very impressed by how quiet our room was at night. My web research had indicated that the hotel had a spa tub, my main reason for choosing it over some others in the neighborhood, but we learned to our disappointment that the fancy suites had private spa tubs but the rest of us were out of luck. Also, room services was quite limited, and for that reason I question the four-star rating. But the location could not be more perfect!

Re-vamped and restored elegance to older hotel in good location to downtown S.F. Staff and front desk very friendly, yet professional.

The hotel was in a great location in Union Square. There is plenty of food, shopping, entertainment and transportation. The hotel has a car service, so that was great too. The room was very average and disappointing. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and was hard to sleep. I had higher expectations of the hotel and I felt let down. The reason I continued my stay there was because I had already payed for the room and the location was awesome.

The staff treats the guests as visiting friends. They made sure we had everything we needed for our stay in the hotel. The concierge helped us enjoy San Francisco by asking us questions about our interests. She made our visit memorable.

If it was possible to give the service more than a ""5"", I would. Special mention to our Club Level concierge for making the arrangements for a very special stay. Smallish rooms, but comfy bed and linens, clean amenities. Never did try the TV though..."

Apparently, the location itself in a big city like frisco is the value, but still, as a 4 star rated hotel it has to have another reason to be rated as 4star. There were none. Sorry to say.

I enjoyed my recent stay at the Prescott in Union Square. The staff are very helpful and are willing to provide you with any information you need. The location is great - easy walk to Powell St Bart stop, and cable cars. The room is very nice. We had a problem with the CD player on the radio, and they fixed it within 10 min of calling housekeeping. I would definitely stay here again.

This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. It is maybe a 3 star.

This is a very nice affordable hotel in a great location in San Francisco. It was easy to get from the airport to the hotel via Bart - a short walk from the Bart station. You can get to a cable car stop within a few blocks. The service is very good. The CD on the clock-radio wasn't working, and it was replaced within 10 minutes. We didn't have time to participate in the free happy hour, but the facilities looked very nice. I would DEFINTELY stay here again.

Check-in and check-out was a breeze, we were able to check in early as well. Room was fairly small and elevators seemed a bit dated, but I am pretty sure this comes with the neighborhood. Outlets not easily accessible for people who might not be able to climb under a desk. Free wine in the lobby lounge each evening is a nice touch.

Delightful boutique hotel with lovely accommodations. The location was great - right off Union Square and short walk to Nob Hill. We parked in a public garage a few doors down and saved money by not using hotel parking.

You would think that with the 4 start and the clean interior they would have put a bit more money into the beds for the room. Our bed was extremely uncomfortable - I was not able to sleep all night. In addition, our sheets had stains on it, and holes in it. Not 4 star quality.

Date of Stay: August, 2008
The room was extremely small. The TV was so small it couldn't be watched comfortably while sitting at the table. The low window had no screen and if open you could easily fall out. The people across the way - out the window - were sitting in their window staring at us constantly. There were dried spills on the table. The bed was definitely not a queen. I'd say a full. With a 6'4" man, it is not too cozy.

Location is good, other than that nothing else good to say. This is not a 4 star by any means. Rooms are unattractive and small carpet was coming off of the floor in our room bath tub took 20 minuets to drain after showering. Also expensive valet parking 45.00 a day other hotels where 35.00 at most. I would not recommend this hotel at all. I.

In calling the hotel ahead of time, the absolutely would not divulge the type of room we would have. Because we had 2 adults and 2 children, we needed two beds. The room was very small. My kids had to sleep on a hard floor. We waited for extra blankets for them for 45 minutes. I would never stay there again.

Smaller San Francisco hotel with great, helpful staff; wonderful location, extremely quiet for a downtown San Francisco hotel.
