| From our travels, this does not deserve a 4 star rating. We were there with another couple and all four of us felt the same way. The rooms are tied
and shabby. The mattress and pillows hard, two thin towels in bathroom- nothing else. Water pressure dripped in sink, but okay in shower.
Clean sheets were stained and had holes in them. Worn extra blankets I would throw out at home.
Upholstered chairs hard and uncomfortable.
Wallpaper peeling, white wood trim browing around edges, hardly any light from windows and noisy surrounding streets. We asked for another room as did our traveling friends and those rooms were slightly larger, but still tired and depressing.
Maybe this is somewhat standard for downtown Rome, but I hope not. |

Staff are warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout. 5 - 10 minute walk from Spanish Steps and subway. 1 minute walk from Via Veneto. Quieter setting than average for Rome. Expansive treetop view of Rome from spacious breakfast room on the top floor. Seek rooms facing the park (admittedly, a bit more street noise), and on higher floors. Try to switch - even if in mid stay - to accomplish that. Rooms on highest floor have juliette balconies. Rooms smallish, but suites are roomy for two people. Bathrooms have up-to-date toilet, bidet, & sink, but other fixtures & appointments need updating, repair, or paint. Hotel overall is clean, but for the price, to North American eyes looks tired, as do many European hotels. You'll be happy enough though.

When in Rome I always try to stay in Eliseo. So, no other comments. Very happy with rooms, breakfast and entire services.

My girlfriend and I had planned to stay 2 nights at the Hotel but were delaying by a day as our flight from London was grounded in Paris Friday evening. The Hotel didn't charge for the Friday night and actually upgraded our room for the sat night - which was a great suite (Room 506!). The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful - our baggage had been lost in transit and the man who worked the evening shift phoned through the airline on various occassions trying to sort out the issue whilst we spent our time visiting Rome. The hotel is extremely close to the Spanish steps - just slightly up the hill. Most of Rome is easily accessible by foot but there are other hotels more closely located to the main squares. That said i would thoroughly reccommend this hotel to anyone looking for a weekend break to Rome as i am sure you will not be dissapointed. The views from the hotel Roof Terrace where breakfast is served is wonderful and not to be missed

I have stayed in this hotel 11 years ago, and felt that nothing has changed. The view from the breakfast-room is stunning. Breakfast ok, and the location is perfect. It was nice to meet Santino (the barman) after so many years.

It has a wonderful location and the breakfast room has an overwhelming sight of the surroundings. However I don´t think the quality and size of rooms are those of a four star hotel. 3 stars would be a fair rating.

We stayed 5 nights in October and found the reception staff friendly and efficient. The bar was open every night except for one, when the barman was ill. He told us he had worked at Hotel Eliseo for over 20 years and was very helpful with advice about what to see and do in Rome. The view of the Vatican from the breakfast room was as good as I hoped it would be. I recommend that you visit the roof terrace at sunset. Our room was rather small and the shower holder and loo seat were damaged. The main disappointment was the lack of restaurant, especially as the breakfast room has such good views, and did serve dinner at one time. A friend told us about it but he stayed there about 20 years ago. He probably met the same barman! There are plenty of restaurants nearby - we liked Ascot in the next street, Via Lazio 22, where they serve produce fresh from their organic farm.

At one time, about 50 years ago, I'm sure thisw was a beautiful hotel but I have no doubt they have not spent one dime upgrading/refurbishing the hotel since the day it was opened. It's too bad because the location is nice but the hotel is very very very run down. It is not worth the money.

We have been to Rome four times and each time have stayed at the Eliseo. We have been very pleased with the service and the free upgrades they have given us on our honeymoon and 10th anniversary. A charming classy hotel.

The price it's very high for service and it's no thrue, they don't have air conditioned. |

Great location (direct access to city centre, just a few steps away) and superb view over S. Peter and the Villa Borghese park from the breakfast hall on the top floor. Rooms could be cleaner... especially toilets which need some renovating. On the first night we asked the reception desk for a suggestion on reasonable restaurants "not for tourists" in the surroundings. We were directed to a brasserie round the corner belonging to the hotel itself, where we felt we were nearly the only Italians guests - and I can't say food was that good and cheap (so so and expensive). Eliseo's price-quality rate is however interesting considering the location. In principle I would suggest staying there (with reserves for those whith high expectations and needs).

This should be a 4 star hotel? Location and breakfast room were ok, but everything else was mediocre or below. Some of the furniture in our room was probably the worst I've ever experienced (hotel management ought to try it for themselves!).

Adequate reception, just. No porterage for luggage.Room safety deposit box was out of order and hotel did not bother to fix it.Bar only open from 5 pm if one specific barman turns up (which he did not on 2 days). No afternoon beverages available, not even tea.The only redeeming feature of the establishment was the buffet breakfast room which is on the top floor and has great views of ST.Peter's.The buffet breakfast itself was no better than most and worse than some. This hotel is certainly not a 4 star establishment as it claims to be. I would not recommend it to anyone.

The bathroom/shower arrangement in our room was hard to use. The service at breakfast was marginal due to understaffing. The front desk staff were not that welcoming or helpful upon arrival.

Requested, and received, rooms with sitting areas. Clean, neat and generally quite comfortable. Would suggest requesting upper floors, as our floor (1) was very noisy when we had our windows open. Welcome was extremely cold. We almost changed hotels, based solely on the very cold welcome we recevied. Absolutely no offer to assist with luggage or sites. We had to ask. What saved the "service component" was the very amiable and helpful bartender, Santino. What a charming man, and a wondeful "host" for the hotel. Strongly suggest you look him up and enjoy his well stocked, albeit small salon bar. Location is good, near Spanish Steps -- walkable to everything. Try a stroll in the Borghese Gardens across the street (outside the walls). Very pleasant. We would consider staying again at the Eliseo, now that our expectations have been balanced. Upper floors a must. Breakfast from the upper terrace dining room is quite nice. Ask Santino to take you up at night for a magnificent view of the lights of Rome.

Great location whether you like to walk, use the subway or take a taxi at the stand around the corner. The front desk was very friendly and helpful, they arranged for a driver to meet us at the airport upon our arrival for around 55 euro (cheaper than a taxi).
