Friendly staff, great location. In the middle of Times Square and within walking distance of Central Park. The rooms were small but who cares, I only slept and showered in mine. Good showers also. Cheaper than nearly every hotel in the area.

Well, I needed to get another hotel because my other (the Algonquin) was booked. Their first price was about 250 but brought it down for me to 209 (add in taxes though). So, I got a bit of a "deal" for being in New York. If I had to spend the 250 I would not recommend this hotel as you probably can find better deals from Travelocity like I did finding the Algonquin for about that amount (highly recommended). Ok, let me get back to the EcoLodge... it's your normal hotel, not flashy. Very basic lobby (without bathroom which really stunk for me as I needed to go before heading off to the airport. They just tell you to go across the street at the Starbucks). There is supposed to be free wireless but for the two days / one night I was there it was never working as they said it was being repaired. Luckily I tapped into someone else's. Rooms are VERY SMALL. Normally I don't mind small rooms when I am by myself but I was with my girlfriend and fitting our luggage in was a bit difficult. You can't walk around the bed to get to the other side, just go over the bed. Bathroom is a decent size though and clean. Only one elevator so you may wait a bit plus it beeps at each floor (a bit annoying). Overall I was happy to find this hotel on a spir of the moment, plus they gave me a discount, plus the location is fantastic. So if you get a decent deal I would recommend this hotel but if you spend anything over 250 I would not (go to the Algonquin if possible).

This is a fantastic location at the edge of Hell's Kitchen and Times Square. Close to everything, and a great rate for a place to rest your weary bones after tramping around the City all day. They even had breakfast downstairs, even if they didn't have a toaster for the bagels, it was always well stocked during the whole morning, and typically there were apples left over for the afternoon snack after the museums or a meeting. I did have a problem with the maids entering my room when I had my "Do Not Disturb" sign out... which they removed altogether, but that is one of my own personal quirks about not wanting staff in my room during my stay. The room safe was not functional, and the new batteries the handyman installed did nothing but produce an alarm that I quickly silenced by removing said batteries and just locking up my valuables in my suitcase whenever I left the room. After a long day on my feet the bed was comfortable enough to read my book, watch television or read email on without waking with a crick in the neck or the lower back, although the pillows were a bit uncomfortable as the filling had begun to separate, and was just a large bag of cotton wads more or less.

Maybe I got a bad room, but I can't believe other reviewers didn't trash this place. The room had a double bed in it and there was about six inches of room on each side of the bed. That was the whole room! The TV had to be suspended from the ceiling because there was no room for a table in the room. The bathroom was also small. A miniature sink and small bathtub, the whole bathroom was probably 5 feet by 3 feet! The bedroom probably 7 feet by 7 feet. Everything was worn out and old looking. And it cost over 300! I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
