Location is great, room was large, with king-sized bed, but cheaply furnished and bedding not up today's standards, Bathroom was o.k. Cleanliness of the bedroom carpets a bit iffy. No coffee or tea - making facilities in the room but continental breakfast provided and coffee in the lobby 24 hours a day. Only paper cups in the bathroom.

The hotel was great when we first arrived, staff was friendly and helpful. The parking is in relatively near the hotel, but very expensive. There were no ice dispensers working which was annoying. We went out to a club and when we came back to the hotel the kitchen staff was making croissants and offered us some, then security called and said we stole croissants and was going to evict us. I would not go back to this hotel.

The Howard Johnson Hotel was nice but not as nice as it should be for the price. In addition, we had to pay an extra $15 just to park in their parking lot.

I'm a small business owner in Calgary who travels to Toronto on business a few times a year. I was pleasantly surprised when I stayed here - everywhere else in the area was over 200 per night. Boy was I glad I did. It has a very home-like atmosphere and is located in the ritziest part of Toronto but they don't charge anywhere close to the other hotels in the area. It was clean, the staff was super helpful, there's free wi-fi everywhere and the beds were really comfortable. They also have this service where you show your room key card at some local restaurants to get discounts and freebees. In my opinion, this place was a great deal and I will definitely repeat next time I'm in Toronto.

Great hotel for someone on a budget who wants to stay right Downtown for a few nights. Wouldn't recommend for a long trip, just one or two nights. Cheapest hotel by far compared to others on the same street, but would have like to see a little more quality in the linens, furnishings, TV, etc. Overall, good hotel with friendly staff.

I had what I think was a non-smoking room, though as soon as I entered the room there was a smell that I thought maybe was a smokers smell. I was only there for the night, but never got accustomed to the smell. The whole hotel had a bit of a funky odour.Staff were pretty friendly though. Also, it's not not at Bloor and Avenue, it's about 3-4 blocks north of Bloor.

I stayed here for 3 days, and the overall experience was good. Specially the neighbour hood was very good. You can get the taxi right infront of the hotel. Also the subway ( Bay street) is 1 minute walk from the hotel. Staff were friendly, but not very helpfull. I was looking for an Indain Resturant near by, and I found one right on the back side( Utsav Resturant). If you are interested for Pools, this is not your choice. This hotel is good for people who just want an accomodation, and wants to hang around and stays most of the tiem outside the hotel.

Went in because I confirmed a non smoking room with 2 double beds. Told if I wanted non smoking I would have to take a king bed...but I had 4 people in my party so I insisted on having 2 doubls which put me in a smoking room when 3 of the four of the people in our party have allergies to smoke.

Smaller low cost hotel in expensive part of town, about 5 miles from downtown Toronto. Plenty of cabs and great subway train station 3 short blocks away. Yorkville section is an upscale section of Toronto, lots of bars and restaurants in area. There is a shopping mall next door to hotel with a Whole Foods inside as well as an upscale eatery and bar. The mall is small and has mostly for upscale shoppers reflecting the neighborhoods economics. There is a university down the street as well as a couple of museums in the area. The Hotel is reasonably price option to the more expensive downtown hotels and is in a great neighborhood, only drawback is that the rooms were small and outdated.

The room was surprisingly nice, the bed comfortable with good sheets and pillows. The complimentary coffee and muffins in the morning was a bonus. I will definitely stay here again the next time Im in Toronto.

Excellent location. There was adequate parking, at a reasonable additional charge and I felt very safe. However, attention to detail in the area of cleanliness was lacking. The staff was efficient but not overly friendly or helpful. The decor was a bit outdated but for the price, that was to be expected. Had the room been clean, I would have been satisfied with my stay ( I did leave a note for the chambermaid).
