Read all before you decide. Room was clean and the housekeeping staff was very friendly and helpful. It was easy to get the room dark and the temperature very comfortable which should have meant a good night sleep. However, we were awakened in the middle of our second night due to a large group of teenagers (chaperoned by teenagers) having a party in the room below us. Our third night wasn't much better as there was a drunk/angry man beating on a door and yelling obscenities on the floor below us. When his friend tried to stop him, he started insulting his friends wife and questioning (mocking) hotel security. Our last day I was hoping would be better before starting a long drive. NOT RESTED... Health Dept was there at check-out. Pool was not up to the proper chlorine level. PARTY OR REST ???

Enjoyed being in the area where we could have access to most of San Diego.

As a couple with kids in college, we are once again traveling for two. For our first foray, this could not have been a more romantic place to stay! Beautiful grounds, QUIET, luxurious premium king suite and no one else around save for a few business travelers after the holidays. The king bed has five pillows and premium cotton sheets. The maid service is friendly and prompt; she even gave us several fluffy rugs for the bathroom/vanity area. There are two large armchairs to sink into and a small table for eating. We had a balcony overlooking the pool, and appreciated the fresh air from the rainstorm! We had an excellent rate through AARP Passport and felt very privileged to have the Doubletree Resort as our home away from home. After spending long days walking through the Wild Animal Park (only 20 minutes away), the Gaslamp Quarter, Old Town, Balboa Park museums and Mission Bay beach (in the pouring rain, with hot clam chowder at Anthony's afterward), we looked forward to a movie ( the tv has a nice rotating feature to watch either from bed or the armchairs) and a restful night's sleep in our room. We would stay here again the next time we visit San Diego in the romantic rain!

Easy access in regards to parking. Room was clean and spacious. I liked the location as it was convenient for the event we needed to attend. No stress check in and check out.

Very nice hotel. Would stay there again, but push to have a room closer to the front and away from the freeway noise.

This resort was wonderful. The friendliness of the staff started at the front desk and continued through the resort. The room was large, and well stocked with towels and coffee supplies. Buffet breakfast was delicious. We will stay there again.

Teenage neighbors yelled, slammed doors and punched walls all night & early morning - I did not sleep a wink. Security was very passive and did not stop the noise. The nice room meant nothing, without a good night's sleep. I was exhausted driving back to LA the next day.

The hotel looked a little shabby. Chairs in rooms looked old. Bathrooms looked renovated with granite counters, but there was a huge exposed pipe from the bathroom wall to the pedestal sink - why not cover that with a counter? Lots of walking to your room. It is set up like a condo complex with lots of buildings of say 4-6 units. For the upstairs units you had to carry your luggage down a pathway and up the stairs.

When checking in we were told that there was a problem with their rooms and we would be getting a parlor room with a pull out couch to sleep on we agreed to take a look. The room was so cramped and sleeping a really uncomfortable couch was not our ideal situation. We decided to go back, we ended up in a room with free dinner, breakfast and bottle of wine.

It was ok, the staff was friendly, parking was tight and $8 per night. Room did not have enough linens and they did not clean well, refrigerator had food from previous traveler in it.

We were pleased with the hotel. We did have ants in our room the first night and the front desk staff was very good about moving us to a different room. They provided breakfast at no charge to us for 2 days because of it, but we did have to ask. We would stay here again!

I was traveling with my sister and friend, along with my two and three year old children. The grounds were very nice and well-maintained. The hotel room was spacious with two queen sized beds plus a sitting area. This gave ample room for me to make a comfortable sleeping area for my children on the floor. The bathroom had two sinks and two mirrored areas for getting ready. This was particularly nice traveling with three females. We began our stay in an upstairs room, which was not ideal with two young and active children. The hotel staff (Sarah) was extremely helpful and accommodating when arranging a change of rooms so as to not disturb any guests below us. We were given an equivalent room very graciously. Our stay was awesome.

I asked and get a regular room but had to sleep on a terrible couch sofa. They ran out of rooms and that was all that was left. It was my worst hotel experience ever. If I could have left and went to another hotel, I would have, but it was past 11 P.M, and I had no idea where I was and had to get up early. The experience was miserable.

We all came from Vegas so we drove, of course. We checked in registered 2 vehicles and received 2 parking passes, so our vehicles would not be towed away. With no prior notice, we were charged $50 extra for parking on one of the vehicles. We were told for 2 rooms you are allowed parking for only 1 vehicle. That's so bad for them.
