Dorian Inn is a good hotel, but the surroundings have gone from bad but acceptable to very bad. What seems to be the local "pusher street" with 24/7 activity is next to the hotel , and armed police is plentyful in the area. Some rooms are very nice, some just OK - our had a leakage in the bathroom with water all over the floor. A big + for roof terrace with swinningpool

The rooftop pool with one of the nicest views in Athens was undoubtably the best part of this hotel. Thankfully, it more than canceled out the worse part of the hotel - the seedy walk from the metro, a bit scarey at night but as far we could tell not dangerous. Apart from that, rooms were clean and the staff was responsive. The air conditioner in our room was not terribly effective so it made for a warm night's sleep but with the windows open it was bearable. There was a large teen group there the first weekend of our stay but the staff was very responsive to our request to monitor the noise level and the second night was better than the first. At our request we stayed on a higher floor the following weekend which made a big difference. The free breakfast buffet was fine but for coffee I choose to frecuent the rooftop bar for breakfast-the bartender was pleasant and the cappucino and cookies, great and the view...

Avoid the location: Drug users and dealers all around the area Omonia and Metaxourgiou. Rooms are small, the shower in the tub floods the complete bathroom as there is no courtain or door. The roof garden offers a magnificent view, and the pool is excellent. Unfortunatly you'll get send away rather harshly after 7 pm for it becomes a posh restaurant where you can't just have a drink. As there is nothing around where you could go you can either stay in your room and order room service or sit at the breakfast hall. Both are not good alternatives to that view from the roof garden. For everything else you have to take the underground or a cab to take you another location, where service is more friendly and the meals not that expencive. There are better places to stay in Athens and they aren't as unwelcoming as this one.

I read the other reviews before staying at the hotel and did not believe them. It is true. The location is marginal to scary. The bathrooms are terrible. The breakfast is very good. The staff are very, very nice but the rooms had carpet stains. I changed rooms as one room did not have a tub but a hand held shower in the corner of the bathroom without a shower curtain. The price was good but for a few dollars more shop around.

No tea making facilities, shower curtain. Coffee at breakfast was appalling. Otherwise not too bad.

The hotel was basic but fine for the price. It is situated very close to a metro which is good but I did not feel safe in the area at all. There are 2 main streets close by which are ok to walk along but any of the smaller streets are not safe. There are alot of homeless people & prostitues close by and alot of police around. I wouldn't recommend anyone staying in this area.

IN THE DORIAN INN WEB PAGE THEY SAY THAT THE HOTEL IS "FULLY REFURNISHED" THAT'S NOT TRUE. THE ONLY THING POSITIVE THAT IT HAS THE HOTEL IS THE POOL THAT HAS IN THE ROOF. BUT OMONIA SURRONDINGS ARE GETING WORSE EVERY DAY. THE HOTEL IS 100 METERS FROM A DETOX HOSTIPAL AND YOU CAN SEE YONKIS AROUND ALL DAY AND NIGHT. I'VE BEEN IN THIS HOTEL 2 TIMES IN 2004 AND NOW (9/2007) I REPEAT ONLY BEACAUSE I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS REFURNISHED AND THE POOL IN THE ROOF BUT NOW A DAY I WON'T RECOMEND IT AND I WONT GO BACK AGAIN. I HAD FLOOD IN MY BATH, WATER WAS COMMING FROM THE ROOF'S BATH!!. I DON'T RECOMEND THE PLACE

the room was very basic a real plus of the dorian inn is its rooftop pool and terrace, with the wonderful view on the acropoli unfortunately the surrondings are pretty scaring, and the location is not close to the more interesting pedestrian streets

Good location, you can walk everywhere. The hotel was ok clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. The roof top pool and bar were really nice, a pity they closed so early (pool at sunset, bar at 12:30 am ;) The only negative side is that the area is not that nice, a busy street and a little bit fishy neighbourhood, but it matters only at night. Venere.com was not supposed to charge our credit card, we were supposed to pay at the hotel. Even so, they didn't want our money at the hotel and the card was charged couple of days later. Made us confused and a little bit angry. But would recommend the hotel, overall it was good!

The Dorian...oh what to say about the Dorian Inn. Well lets start off with the welcoming...HORRIBLE...if your not a light packer good luck! there is no bell hop service..or anyone that works that that you can expect help from...Have fun with the elevator as your getting your luggage in because i kid you not that thing is possessed...it closed on us every minute and we would litteraly have to throw our bodies in the middle of the way to stop it so we can fully load our things in the middle...cuz that little button that you would regularly press to keep the doors open...yeah doesn´t work. The rooms skeeved me out! Even though they appeared to be cleaned it just didn´t feel clean...it felt very musty and mildewy if you get what i mean...in order for me to lay on the bad i HAD to place one of my towels on the bed...cuz the though of what was crawling in those mattresses got the best of me...and please don´t mistake me for a goody two shoe..or a premadonna...but well if you ever stay their you´ll know what i mean. uhm to be honest the only good thing that i enjoyed from this hotel was the pool on the roof...it gives off an amazing view of the acropolis and well thats about it...the city of athens by where this hotel and the acropolis is situated is a bit scary...i remember asking for directions to get to an internet cafe and the person at the desk had to warn us of certain streets NOT TO WALK THROUGH...cuz they were very well known for muggings and stuff. THe one very good thing that came out of staying in this hotel was meeting a local that was visiting a friend. We were hanging out by the pool..(only place i enjoyed being at in this hotel) and i told her about our experience in Athens and how we were so disappointed...I mean the acropolis was amazing and so was the little trendy shops and restaurants surrounding the accropolis at the bottom of the mountain...but you can definitely do that in one day...we wanted night life attraction and just pretty sceneries.

It has a pool on the roof and a beautiful view of Akropolis such as the photo view. It's nearby the bussiness center and metro.

We were upgraded to a big suite, which was great! However, the overall cleanliness is to be improved; especially the F&B staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. The breakfast was ok, although the beverage section was very poor. The price of the rooms is ok and the location right in the center excellent. The roof top pool is a bonus!!
