Overview: The Hotel Barocco overlooks Rome’s Piazza Barberini, the fine square dominated by Bernini’s wonderful baroque fountain of the sea-god Triton. This intimate and charming hotel is named after the architectural style that inspired some of the most breathtaking squares and monuments in the Eternal City. The fountain is a stone’s throw from the hotel, so close in fact that from some of the rooms guests can see the tiny bees - a symbol of the Barberini family - sculpted on the dolphins.

The entrance to the hotel is in Via della Purificazione, a quiet street off the square, and leads into an elegant foyer. The sofas in the reception area are covered in beige and orange-striped damask. There are oriental rugs on the floor and trompe l’oeil scenes of classical Rome on the walls. The air is even softly fragranced, in keeping with the philosophy of the Five Senses Hotels chain. This idea was first conceived three years ago by Franco Caruso – the hotel’s manager since 1991.

Dining: Delicious breakfasts to prepare you for the day ahead
The breakfast room is located beside the hotel foyer. Its cherry-wood furnishings and trompe l’oeil scenes of the Pincio gardens combine to create a warm and relaxing atmosphere. The décor is rich in intricate floral themes which perfectly complement the white damask tablecloths teamed with white porcelain, shining cutlery and gleaming silverware. A single yellow rose in a crystal vase adorns each table. Soft music plays in the background. The American-style breakfast caters for all tastes: guests can choose from delicious scrambled eggs, cereals and home baked pastries, a wide selection of smoked meats and cheeses, and a host of delicacies from the surrounding Roman countryside. Breakfast is served from 7 to 10.30 am Monday thru Saturday, and until 11.00 am on Sunday, so that guests may have a lie in if they wish.

We stayed in 9 hotels during our 3 weeks in Italy. All were 4 star and 6 were with a Globus tour. Hotel Barocco was one of our two favorites. Fresh fruit, flowers and robes in our room upon arrival. Turn down service with slippers and foot mats. When we complimented the front desk on the hotel they told us they had been able to upgrade us to a deluxe room. I thought it was classy to just quietly do it and not make a big deal of it. Good location for many of the sites. Noisy outside but very good sound control with the windows closed. Delicious breakfast in an elegant room. It felt very comforting to come back to the hotel at the end of a long day of sightseeing. We would definitely stay there again.

location of hotel was well above our expectations. they had very wellcoming, and helpfull staff. we knew rooms were small, but we were very lucky that they kindly switched our room to a small suite because they didn't have our seven years old in their reservation. we had the most beautiful terrace, and view of piazza barberini.

The Hotel Barocco is a wonderful oasis in bustling Rome. I always felt as though I was coming home as I approached Piazaa Barberini. I had a single room, which was small but cheery and big enough for one. I had asked for a quiet room facing the back and the room I had was silent. The public rooms are cheery, delightful, and welcoming. There is a bar/salon with trompe l'oeil paintings of Rome, which was very inviting. Between my day's activities and dinner, I often sat there and read a book. The other guests were very friendly. The hotel staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. (It does help that I speak Italian.) They arranged for a limo to pick me up from the airport and helped me make my arrangements for my train trip from Rome to Sorrento. For those who decide on their hotel based on breakfast, the room was bright and cheery, and had everything one could possibly want at beakfast. It was quite centrally located and in a area of Rome with fewER tourists. It's not at the antiquities, but those locations are chaotic and noisy. My one small complaint was the bathroom. The shower, toilet, and bidet were on a level raised about three inches and the shower curtain didn't contain the water. On top of that platform, there was a sliding glass door, which raised the level even further. The opening was narrower than my shoulder, which meant I had to enter and exit sideways from the often wet floor. Since there was only a twin bed in the room, ithe privacy door was unnecessary. But it was a minor inconvenince. I wiould certainly stay there again and I recommend it highly, especially for those who like small, boutique hotels

Helpful and courteous staff. Our room was small but very nice. I liked the location-it was walking distance to most things and close to the Metro for those too far to walk to. Breakfast was good too!

This hotel was quite a disappointment. Our room was very tiny, with not much room to walk around the bed. The mattress was extremely hard which did not make for a good nights sleep. For the high price paid, it was not worth it. Breakfast and service was excellent. Front desk help was abrupt and cold.

Extremely happy with Barocco hotel. Very friendly reception. When we arrived the receptionist offered to arrange a taxi for us to the airport for our return flight the next day at a total cost of 45 euro which we found to be excellent. Breakfast was wonderful and the presentation of food was splendid. I forgot my bag in the breakfast room and when I returned to by room there was a knock on the door and the bag was returned to me. I would use this hotel again. Very central for sightseeing, shops etc.

Hotel Baroco is a wonderful place to stay in Rome. Central located at Piazza Barbarini. Not far from the Metrostation and only some minutes to walk to Fontana di Trevi and other interesting places. The staff is very competent and friendly. Very good breakfast. I have had a singe room. The room was a little bit dark and small. But very clean. I can recommand this hotel and would stay there again when I return to Rome.

The Barocco is a phenomenal 4-star hotel; a great value for Rome! We received a free upgrade to a Junior Suite that was tremenous: a loft area with chair and table above the main room; an expansive terrace that overlooked Piazza Barberini and P.Bernini's Triton Fountain. Staff was extremely attentive and courteous. Hotel had by far the best breakfast of any hotel we stayed in - even over 5-star hotels! Highly recommend the nearby Trattoria Tritone restaurant - casual, but probably the best dining experience we had in Italy - better than other restaurants in Venice, Florence and Capri that we spent well over 200 euros per meal for 2 people! Hotel is located in one of best area's of Rome. Short walk to the Spanish Steps, Spagna and the Trevi Fountain. Rome has a putrid metro system compared to other European cities, but there is a station right in Piazza Barberini that will take you to St. Peter's and Colosseum. Take in the Galleria Borghese if you get a chance - stunning sculptures and paintings in a beautiful setting! Much more so than the more famous Vatican Museums.

The Barocco is a delightful place to stay in Rome. The location is great, as we could walk all over Rome without any difficulty, and it was right next to a metro stop for trips across the river to the Vatican. The room we had, with a rooftop balcony, was simply beautiful. The staff was very welcoming, and arranged for a car to pick us up at the Rome Airport. I would recommend this hotel for anyone.
