This is a nice hotel in Amsterdam and we had no complaints. However we did have an interesting time as we arrived on the one day of the year where there is a street party on outside the hotel and had to push our way through this to get to the hotel. Make sure that you look at the hotel from the outside, or preferably from the canal, as it has a sharp lean which we never noticed from the inside.

The Amstelzicht is perfectly located in the heart of Amsterdam, within walking distance of EVERYTHING. My room with a view was very spacious and comfortable. The value for the money was a real steal. The furnishings are not luxurious but I perfer older, charming, shabby and comfortable surroundings. The canal view was spectacular.

It is a very nice hotel. Not really far from any touristic part of the city (Dam, red light district, flower market, museum place...). We never used the bus or tram. We wished we had a more beautiful view, but it's ok.

Although the rooms seemed a bit pricey they were very nice and the location was great. We stayed two days in the apartment/quad room. The reception was very nice and friendly.

Cleanliness of rooms is not the best. At our arrive we found the sheets dirty (several stain like a squirt...) but they provide quickly to change it whit a little shame. Room number 2 is just over the reception and the huge window overlook a backyard with service entrance of a restaurant. You can see trash can and refrigerator engine. Everyone can see you when you are in the room to changing and showering. A lot of noise due to waitress hustle and bustle and smoking break. I used earplugs to sleep. The bathroom is clean and wide. A lot of hot water and clean towel everyday. A budget hotel, in a lovely position (everything is near, just a short walking) for group of friends unpretentious.

I booked a quad which was in acutality a 1 bedroom apartment converted into a hotel room. They had a double bed in the bedroom and then another one in the living room. There was a small kitchenette as well. The "apartment" was not connected to the hotel. You had to use you key to open up a door that led into an alleyway and then open the door to the building and then one last lock into your room. Because we didn't actually stay in the real hotel I couldn't tell you much about it's interior. The interior of the "apartment" was very sparse and basic. The hotel is in a great location though...unless you are driving to amsterdam then there is no parking near the hotel. We were told that we could park in the parking garage for 70 euros a day or we could have a company pick up the car and park it for 30 euros a day. All in all it wasn't a bad place to stay considering the price. So if you are looking for a inexpensive place right in the heart of amsterdam this is it. If you are looking for something alittle more elegant, like a 2 star hotel, perhaps you should pay a little more and look elsewhere.

If you're looking for function rather than comfort then this hotel is fine. A great location and the rooms are clean though basic. A short walk to the main tourist areas but far enough away to not be immersed in it. The best feature were the fantastic staff who were so helpful - they offered to keep our bags for us past check out time so we could really enjoy our last day and were always really happy to help.

The bedroom of the hotel was pretty gross. The matress was too soft and the blanket had noticeable, sizeable stains on the outside and inside of it. The carpets were also heavily stained. The room was quiet and the bathroom appeared to be newer and clean, which didn't really fit. Also, we stayed for 2 nights and the first night had wine, coffee, and a stocked mini bar, and for some reason the second night, they had come in and removed everything, and had also just taken our dirty towels and did not replace them. The towels were also kind of old and scratchy. Overall, the location of this hotel is wonderful, and the staff was friendly, but I probably would look for another hotel if I go back because I didn't feel very comfortable in the room. If you just need a place to sleep and don't plan to spend much time there, it might be a fine choice, but don't expect much.

Out of around 12 hotel stays in Europe this was the only one that disappointed us comparing to what we thought we were getting. Admittedly it was very inexpensive but it was still not good enough for what we were led to believe. Very disappointing. We moved hotels for the remainder of the stay.

The hotel was generally good. We reserved a quadruple room. It was spacious and very clean. And with a little kitchen. The only problem is that it was outside the hotel, and we were a little afraid at first. But, we have not any problem, really. The street is a little noisy, because there are clubs and discotheques, but not dangerous. The worst: the stairs.

A really warm welcome, very helpfull with luggage, maps, places to see. Room cleaned daily with tea/coffee topped up readily and extra provided on request. Nice area, quiet view over river and boats. Three Sisters pub round corner on Rembrandt square excellent, food and drink. Smokeys club and coffee bar really handy.

We had a girls weekend to Amsterdam to do some shopping. The hotel was in perfect walking distance from everything, shopping, Red Light District, Central station.... The room was big and clean. Ther were some noise from the back yard, but my guess is that it would have been worse had we had a room facing the street. Polite and serviceminded staff. Definately a hotel to recomend. We will be back :-)
