Awful stay. In a back San Marco alley, with a fish fry food restaurant next door; smells like KFC/Crustycrab in the lobby 24/7. Staff was rude and made us pay 3 nights when we asked to leave a day early because they could not find any other room. Our booked room had: A/C not working, bed was too small for a 5'10" person, walls and carpets had squished bugs in it, and renovation/construction work on the building prohibited us from opening the windows. Didn't even apologize for any of the above inconveniences or offer us a discount on the 200 Euro a night price! Stay away, this is a major tourist ripoff. Definitely not a 3/4 (self-claimed) star hotel, but more like a 1 star truck stop motel.

On arrival the hotel did not have enough rooms for my family and myself and partner had to stay at their sister hotel 'The Dona Palace' situated opposite the Albergo. The Dona Palace was a much better standard hotel with a small private garden. Having a 'split' family and children we used the garden and had some piknicks their but the very very rude waiter who came on duty between 1400-2300 HRS would get angry towards us for using the garden even though he had no paying customers - not surprise at their bar prices! I called him rude. It seems they would rather have an empty garden than a utilised one! Idiots. That said the breakfast was good and room clean, spacious and air conditioned. The Albergo which had a much basic breakfast, triple rooms were split level with open staircase (dangerous for our small children) and some had damp on the ceiling (guess this is a sinking city right?!). The location was fantastic (use multi-map to find the hotel) Oh.. and we had a fantastic time!

This is a very nice hotel with good service. I really like the fact that this hotel is so close to St. Mark's Square. From my bedroom, I had a view of St. Mark's Basilica and the bell tower. Venice during the summer months is very hot and humid. When I got tired and too sweaty in the heat and humidity or needed a bathroom break, I could just go back to the hotel for little breaks. Since St. Mark's Square is about only 200 meters away, you really don't waste time doing this. The Rialto Bridge is about 10 minutes away and two Vaporetto stops are less than 5 minutes away from the hotel. They have good breakfast. The hotel rooms are very clean and air-conditioned. I would go back to this hotel if I have a chance to visit Venice again.

Very good hotel, well located near San Marco place. Normal price is expensive for the room we got.

Excellent location, very good facilities - good choice as long as you want to be in the middle of tourist-centric parts of Venice.

Small rooms but clean, nice marble bathrooms and showers. Fantastic location 30 sec from the Piazza San Marco. I didn't find anything better in the neighbourhood than the hotel restaurant - fantastic penne alla vodka flambe.

Fantastic location just behind St Mark's square (on the basilica side, a block from Macdonalds & Bridge of Sighs), this very nice hotel unfortunately suffers from Venice's overpricing syndrome (rooms & food), but that seems to be common for properties close to the square. A last minute deal might save you a small fortune, if the hotel isn't booked out. The bathroom (especially the door) was VERY narrow which may be an issue for larger guests.

Room was quite small, bathroom was nearly bigger than the room as it was a generous size. Location is fantastic and the staff were friendly and helpful.

First time in Venice. The location of the hotel was great, since the san marco place was a few minutes of the property. But the hotel was not easy to find, as the map provided was not very useful. We were lucky as we got two large and spacious rooms in a family suite, for the price of a regular room. We appreciated to stay on the highest floor, overlooking a nice canal. We had a romantic postcard view from our windows. We would recommend this hotel.

The hotel was nice, but not quite up to what I was expecting for a 4 star hotel. Some of the female reception staff were not very friendly and nor were the staff in the breakfast room. The Hotel seems to have arrangements with the hotel opposite for the use of their nice bar over looking the canal you get 20% off the first bar bill. They also gave us 15% off the restaurants bills in the hotel, but get a voucher each time from reception first. Make sure you know exactly where the hotel is on the map before you go. I recommend asking the hotel to send you precise directions as it is not very easy to find. I had to ask 6 local people/shops before found it. The hotel has free wireless broadband, but you have to have your own laptop. If not there is an internet caf 2 min away. Bedroom and bathroom was a good size, but the breakfast room was a little small. Over all I was generally please with the hotel for what I ended up paying for it. I booked via a last minute deal been offered.

This is a pleasant and conveniently placed hotel which served our purposes well for a four day visit to acquaint ourselves with the delights of Venice. The standards in the restaurant were good and the food fresh and cooked to order. The room was adequate and the bathroom palacial. The inclusive breakfast was adequate with several choses to compensate for the tired scrambled egg. We would happily recommend this hotel to others.

All'Angelo, is of course old hotel but in my opinion is not renewed much enough i.e. despite the fact it is a protected one it could be done of more design and care. When a room is rated at EURO 280.- you expect more than this. We where just for leisure.
