Is normal to have mouse and cockroach in your room?, is normal try to talk to the manager to leave the hotel and seems imposible by the "reception"? is normal to spend money trying to keep the "animal" out of your room?,....About the shared restroom....... Really, I surprise if you consider this as a hotel. We didn't went away becouse there wasn't another room free in NY, but we wasting to days looking for another place. The worst experience in my life. PD.: Before this I sent a mail to the manager of 309 (15th September 2008) and I'm waiting and answer.

Il tetto all'ultimo piano è agibile.

The "hotel" is not an hotel at all. It is very old and looks very dirty. The porter is a kind guy, even if he looks a bit scary the first time you see him!I would go there ONLY if there isn't anything else in the whole NYC!

309 is perfect if you are searching for a very cheap hotel well located in manhattan. Rooms are not so clean or quiet, but you're only fifteen minutes walk by union square and fifth avenue. this is a perfect solution if you leave your room in the morning and you come back in the evening after a day spent in visiting the big city!

I would not recommend that anyone stay there. You only need to pay a little more, to get a whole lot more

Excellent location to bars, restaurants, and attractions. The room is extremely small, about the size of a king bed. It did have a kitchenette, though we didn’t use it. It seems to be located in an apt building (that is, they rent out some rooms as hotels rooms and others as residential rentals?) It has a shared split bath, though we never had a problem with the bathroom being available. Due to it’s central location, it is VERY loud all night/morning long as long as the bars are open. There is no air condition, so take a fan in the summer.

Very bad smell of gas in the room. Good location and service. New York is expensive, so I guess its a good rate for what's offered. Old building, but clean room (The garden room).

Excellent price and location for getting about, the subway is 20 metres away from the door. a good place to get away from and see the sights. Odd that we had to change rooms, half-way through our stay. The garden, on the ground floor, is more of a collection of rusty items with some weeds and is looked onto by numerous rooms. If booking, get on the 1st floor at least, it is alot quieter. Good for the price, generally clean (but no room tidyiny/cleaning during the stay). Disabled access may be an issue.
